Rosita Herrick, Director

by Pete Theisen
Member of the Sarasota Personal Computer Users Group, Inc.

Rosita Herrick comes to our user's group having traveled the world to get here. Rosita and her husband have settled in Sarasota after having been nearly everywhere else.

Originally Rosita was an Interpreter/Translator by profession, but became a programer with the 7th Army Inventory Control Center in Germany in 1968. While working in the USA (St. Louis) Rosita started working as a software specialist with large IBM operating systems. Rosita wrote both operating systems and applications for mainframe computers.

In 1985 her employer at the time replaced her mainframe terminal with a PC, and a new age began. Having a mainframe in her home obviously would have been a stretch, but a PC! Rosita was hooked. Rosita and her husband have had a PC in their home ever since, upgrading every 3 years or so.

Sometime after settling in Sarasota in 1994, Rosita joined SPCUG. Rosita started in SPCUG by enjoying the informative meetings and eventually started volunteering to assist in the weekly Getting Started SIG with Dr. Bob Thommes about 5 years ago.

Since then Rosita has led a few SIGS about Digital Photography, PC's, Microsoft Works, etc. Rosita enjoys solving problems and she is an active participant in the SPCUG Yahoo list, where problems are solved on a daily basis.

In addition to Computers, Rosita's other hobbies are Photography and needlework. Above all Rosita enjoys solving problems and sharing her enthusiasm for computers. :
