Express Ink & Paper

by Pete Theisen
Member of the Sarasota Personal Computer Users Group, Inc.

Finding Express Ink & Paper may take a little effort. It is on the West side of Swift Avenue, past Constitution but before Stickney Point, next to the Maytag repair place? the tall building. There it is! Although there is a small front to Express Ink & Paper, once you get inside it is a rather large shop, deeper than it is wide. Inside there are lots and lots of things for printers, all kinds of printers. All kinds of things for your printer.

Melodee Dougherty is the owner of Express Ink & Paper. Her business is centered on four main areas: 1. Inkjet supplies, 2. Laser supplies - toner, 3. Fax film and cartridges and finally, 4. Ribbons. Yes, you can still get ribbons? printer, typewriter, calculator and swipe terminal ribbons. In addition to these, Express Ink & Paper can order specialty papers - colors, textures, photo and the like and also specialty inks.

Melodee started Express Ink & Paper in year 2000, and since then the business has attracted 2000 regular customers. Mostly this is business to business, but there are home users as well trading with Express Ink & Paper. A short search of the last months? invoices revealed that nine Sarasota PC Users? Group members had taken the opportunity to buy their supplies from Express Ink at the day-inday-out SPCUG 10% discount that Melodee offers each of our members. Ask around the group and you will quite likely find someone who has tried an Express Ink & Paper cartridge.

Folks, Express Ink & Paper has over $10,000 worth of inventory in stock. They most likely have your cartridge, if not they can have it for you in a day or so. Remember, these are mostly re-manufactured cartridges that are about 30 to 50 percent off of the price of new ones.

I asked Express Ink & Paper to get me a cartridge for my Xerox XJ6c and they had it right there. I asked for a toner drum for my OKI small office laser printer and they had to order that as any shop around here would. Express Ink & Paper also had instant (DSL) access to the Windows 95 driver I needed for the OKI laser printer. If you have something odd or unusual, and you have the empty cartridge, Express Ink & Paper can most likely send it out to be rebuilt, for about half the price of a new one. ??
