Computer Repair, Inc.

Member of the Sarasota Personal Computer Users Group, Inc.Nearly everyone in Sarasota has driven by Computer Repair, Inc. at its current location, you can't avoid passing by it if you get around much. Is this the same Computer Repair, Inc. that advertises in the PC Monitor? Yes, it is.
Tim Creger started Computer Repair Inc. in 1992. Tim, the owner and president, ran the business out of his house till 1999 when the business grew to its now prime location size. The business is now located at 2819-B Bee Ridge Rd., at the corner of Bee Ridge Road and Tuttle Ave. That of course is one of the major intersections in town!
The business currently has five employees including Tim. Each employee has at least 10 years daily hands on experience with computers. Only computer technicians work at Computer Repair. When you call Computer Repair, you will only talk to a technician throughout the transaction. You will talk to a technician with a minimum of ten years of experience, that is.
Computer Repair offers same or next day repair on most computers ? laptop and desktop. The folks at Computer Repair fix software problems, hardware problems, remove viruses, and even install networks. They do not sell parts except incidental to their repair work. The operating system on the computer I am using at the moment was set up at Computer Repair before I got it. Computer Repair did a good job on it.
Computer Repair offers component level repair of cathode ray tube monitors, but not thin flat-screened LCD monitors. They sell refurbished monitors directly to the public with 15" monitors going for $49.95 and 17" monitors going for $75.00 with a 90-day warrantee. Occasionally, they also have 21" and larger monitors for sale. Sometimes they have the smaller sizes as well, I bought a couple of the smaller ones there myself. I have a small office and two small desks, so these were the largest I could use; yet I still wanted 800 x 600 capability. Now I have exactly what I want.
The display of refurbished monitors really grabs your attention as you enter Computer Repair. There is a large selection right out in front, and many more in back. Each monitor on the display is hooked up to a program source, so you can compare the look of each screen before you select the one you want. Once you make your selection, it will be unhooked and given a special cleaning before it goes to your car.
On the other side of the room there are workbenches with monitors permanently set up to service at least a dozen machines at a time, and perhaps as many as twenty. So when you bring in your computer you don?t necessarily have to bring the monitor, but if you can you could note what kind of monitor you have and that might save a minute or two. Each workbench has a couple of turntables to put the computer on, easy for the tech to work on any side without having to lift the computer.
The day I visited only about seven or eight computers were being worked on, so anyone coming in with a small problem could expect expeditious service. Also in view was a very large screen TV. I thought it was rigged as a monitor, but as it turns out it is something for people to watch while they are waiting for their computer. I would plan on leaving my computer, though. Daytime TV is terrible! :
