President's Notes (02/08)

President's Message
by Phil Sorrentino
Member of the Sarasota Personal Computer Users Group, Inc.

Volunteers are what make the Sarasota PC Users Group such an effective and successful organization. It takes many volunteers to run an organization this large, as you can imagine. I would like to thank all of the volunteers who have generously given their valuable time, and would encourage you to continue or even expand your volunteer activities. Because of you, I expect 2008 will be a very successful year for SPCUG.

Besides the good feelings that you get from volunteering, volunteers are treated to an annual Volunteer Luncheon, around the Holiday Season. This years Volunteer Luncheon was a terrific success. It was held at Michaels on East and the food was wonderful. The chocolate dessert was described as “out of this world;” it may be reason alone to volunteer your time. For those of you who already volunteer your time, see if you can “Recruit a friend to be a volunteer”, and we’ll make next year’s volunteer luncheon even bigger.

Not only does the Volunteer of the Month get member recognition and an invitation to the Volunteer Luncheon, but they also receive a monetary award such as a $50 gift card to Office Depot. Not that that ever truly compensates someone for the time and effort expended. It’s a small token, but it shows the volunteer that the organization cares, and appreciates the effort.
There are 10 more months in this year, that’s 10 more opportunities for you to become the volunteer of the month. Anyone who would like to pitch-in and help, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Pat Wheeler.
