Wondering about the new cover? I'll bet it grabbed your eye! You either like it or ran for for the pepto-bismol. I hope it was the former.
The color identifies with the sunshine in what is for most of us our adopted state. It's why we traded in our longjohns for a pair of shorts and headed south, albeit also why our dermatologists are sending their kids to college on our skin cancers.
In any event, it's bright and cheery and welcomes you to the Monitor that we hope you enjoy. If you do, you need to thank the many columnists and contributors whos joint efforts make it what it is.
The biggest (and so far the only) complaint we have received comes from members who didn't get their monthly copy. Invariably there's a simple reason for it, and it's usually that their membership expired and needs to be renewed. Check your address block on the back cover to see when yours is due.
It would be easy if we were able to warn you of your expiration date by mail when it comes along. It's not as easy as it sounds. Our one-woman membership committee consisting of Joan Adams is already overworked. Perhaps one or two of you kind folks might speak to Joan at the membership table and volunteer to give Joan a hand.
Some of our Canadian members who are not receiving their Monitor need to see Joan to make sure they change their address when they come to Florida or return to Canada. We send the Monitor to whatever address you gave Joan last.
The Monitor is not the only means by far that we have of keeping you informed. If you provide us with your email address, you will receive regular news of SIG's, meetings, and other info of benefit to you. If you are not receiving these announcements, you need to send your email address to: email@spcug.org
Another advantage of providing you email address is that you will regularly receive our email magazine, "Dave Bytes." It is loaded with all sorts of interesting information about computers and SPCUG activities that you will enjoy. Through the efforts of our Webmaster, Gary Schweinshaupt (former Monitor editor), we maintain a superb website with a treasure chest of information at www.spcug.org.
