Member of the Sarasota Personal Computer Users Group, Inc.Adobe PageMaker 6.5 Plus is the previous version of a high-end desktop publishing software package which includes some 24 ready made projects (templates), copies of Photoshop 5.0 LE, Acrobat 4.0 Reader and Distiller. This software bundle was a tremendous value, too bad it's out of production! This slim volume shows you how to use some of the "Plus" features of this package, the "Productivity Kit".
To begin with, Adobe PageMaker 6.5 Plus is unavailable for the PC at my usual sources, as far as I can see, although you might see it from time to time on e-Bay or the like. There seem to be a few Mac packages of this version still available at <www.bigclearance.com>. If you have Adobe PageMaker 6.5 Plus, though, or if you just like to read, you could well consider this book. There are some of the Adobe PageMaker 6.5 Plus features contained in Adobe PageMaker 7.0 and if you have Adobe PageMaker 7.0 you might also get some practical use out of this book.
You would need a source of photos, clip art, templates and the like to follow the instructions in this book, and none are included with the book - because they are in the "Plus" CD included with the Adobe PageMaker 6.5 Plus program. Once you have these, however, the instructions are straightforward and the results are predictable.
There are 24 projects included. Projects such as newsletters, flyers and direct mail ads. The instructions include step by step lessons on how to use the PageMaker 6.5 features such as layers, libraries, drop caps, masked images and text wrapping.
Adobe PageMaker 6.5 Plus Classroom in a Book Productivity Kit is available from Adobe Press, a unit of Adobe, the makers of PageMaker <www.adobe.com/adobepress/main.html> for $25. It is paper bound and does not include Adobe PageMaker Plus, which may be unavailable. If you could find Adobe PageMaker 6.5 Plus you would get to pay another $179 or so for that - marked down because it is the previous version. If you have Adobe PageMaker 6.5 Plus this "Classroom in a Book Productivity Kit" book will be very useful to you. ?
