February 1 -
Wednesday - Meeting Night
The February
presentation was on the iPad 2 led by Adam J. Richter
M.S. who did a great job presenting Apple to us. |
Adam
covered some of the more common applications (apps) that are used with
the iPad and how to get them. |
As
usual the door prizes were given out following the presentation. |
January 4 -
Wednesday - Meeting Night
Many
enjoy Adam Richter's tech support prior to the main meeting. |
Raffles
have become very popular recently. Here a Nook color tablet was
being raffled off tonight. The winner will be announced on March
7. |

President
Mike Hutchinson greeted Deputy Vince Riva and Sergeant Neil Sculley As
our speakers tonight. |
|
|
A
good crowd thoroughly enjoyed and were well informed about scams and many
other fraud schemes. |
|
|
Neil
presented a fake card reader attached to ATMs used to capture bank
card information. |
Vince
covered many other frauds active in this area. Thanks guys. Good job. |
December 12 -
Monday - Board Meeting Night
|
The
board of directors along with the newly elected members met
for the first time tonight with Mike Hutchinson leading the
meeting. A very productive evening. |
December 9 -
Friday - Volunteer Luncheon
|
Outgoing
president Phil and incoming president Mike welcomed the 42
volunteers that participated in the appreciation luncheon at
Carraba's Italian Grill on Stickney Point at 11:30 this
morning. |
It
was a good time for us to share our experiences in the
computer club. |
|
The
food was great and we had a good time together getting to know each
other. |
|
|
The
new elected officers were introduced to the crowd following the meal. |
|
Unable
to all fit at the same table, some grouped together at other parts of
the dinning room. |
Dennis
and Mike passed out the great door prizes while waiting for the
dessert to be served. |
Decmber 7 -
Wednesday - Christmas Meeting
|
We
had Round Robin Presentations tonight. Here is Phil Serrentino

Mike
Hutchinson told all about the Android Tablet. There were 10
presenters tonight. |

Chuck
Mason presented Fast Stone Image Viewer. |
Following
the presentations, Phil assembled everyone for the business meeting. |

Nominating
chairman Bob Thommes presented the slate of officers for 2012. |
Here
are the new officers. Only the president and two directors were
changed. Our new president is Mike Hutchinson, center. |

Following
the elections door prizes were handed out. Great snacks were provided
to munch on while attending the sessions. |
November 2 -
Wednesday - Meeting Night
|
Our
speaker tonight was Charles Prince from Avast Software. This
was a very informative presentation about internet security
and how to protect from computer infections such as malware
and adware. |
These
are two of the tables open before the meeting. On the left is the
signups for beginning classes and on the right is the new member and and
member renew registrations. |
Our
president Phil introduced the speaker for tonight. |
October 17 - Monday -
Refurbishing Group
This
is our refurbishing workshop. Go to the Refurbishing page for
directions. |
Lots
of work in progress inside. Helpers are always needed. |
October 11 -
Tuesday - Gulfgate Help
Volunteers
from SPCUG are at the Gulfgate Library on Tuesdays from 1:00 pm
to 3:00 pm to help anyone who needs it. |
Today
it was Phil bearing the burden all alone. |
October 10 -
Monday - Board Meeting Night

There
were 11 at the SPCUG Executive Board Meeting tonight at the
Sarasota YMCA.
All interested members are encouraged to attend and

Wednesday - Meeting Night
Our
volunteers at the sign in table are our first contact on

main presentation tonight was "Using The Internet To Invest". |

LaBash did a great job with the presentation, which was well attended. |

the close of the meeting Phil presented some great door prizes. |

have started at the Boy's and Girls Club. Nancy Wallace is shown
